Treatment Overview

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a virtually invisible aligner system to improve your smile.

It’s a series of 3D-printed clear plastic removable aligners with no wires and no brackets which makes them very comfortable and extremely hard to notice.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.

Why Have Invisalign?

Not all clear aligners are the same. Only Invisalign clear aligners are made of SmartTrack material, so they are more comfortable to wear and easier to put on and take off.

They are removable so you can take them out for brushing and flossing, eating and on certain occasions. Allowing you to straighten your teeth without overly affecting your everyday life.

Powerful but gentle SmartForce attachments help the aligners apply the right amount of force in the right direction, providing precise and predictable results and making complex tooth movements possible, without braces.

AlignTech has the treatment plans and results from over 12 million cases to refine and develop their tooth-moving software and algorithms. They heavily invest in research to ensure they remain the market leaders in quality, materials, comfort, and results.

What is Invisalign Treatment Time?

Typically, a comprehensive course of Invisalign takes 15-18 months. Depending on the complexity of your case.  Some minor aesthetic cases can take as little as 14 weeks! But, you’ll start seeing results in a matter of weeks.

Why Choose The Dental Box for Invisalign?

We are a ‘Diamond Apex’ provider! This is a new level of recognition from Invisalign that reflects a dentist or orthodontist’s excellent track record working with the brand!

While the Invisalign software can confidently generate fantastic treatment outcomes, it’s the specialists’ input and treatment planning that really makes the difference.

Our clinical director Dr Anthony Lam and has 20 years of experience as an orthodontist. He and our orthodontic team of specialists and orthodontic therapist can expertly finesse and fine-tune your planned tooth movement to ensure you receive the most efficient and aesthetic result possible.

What's a Diamond Apex Provider?

Previously, there were just four tiers of Invisalign providers. However, dentalbox has gone a step further, breaking into the most exclusive tier of all – Invisalign Diamond Apex provider.

This means that our team of experts is part of a select group that performs the highest number of Invisalign treatments across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, representing the top 1% of providers!

If you’re interested in receiving Invisalign treatment, it’s always best to come to the most experienced and recognised provider.

How Do I Get Started?

The first step on your Invisalign journey is a free iTero scan and consultation. An Invisalign-trained member of our team will take a fast and precise 3D digital scan of your teeth using the very latest iTero element scanner and show you an instant simulation of your predicted results.

You’ll then need an orthodontic consultation to ensure the health of your teeth and your suitability for treatment. Your clinician will then work collaboratively with you to map out a custom 3D treatment plan that you are happy with. The iTero and ClinCheck software removes the guesswork and gooey impressions and ensures your treatment is as accurate as it can possibly be.

Once you approve your 3D ClinCheck, we have the aligners manufactured and shipped. Then you can attend your AlignerFit appointment and start your journey to straight teeth!

Is Invisalign Painful?

When wearing Invisalign clear aligners, the resounding majority of patients will feel no discomfort. The precision cut SmartTrack aligners sit comfortably on your gumline and cause little to no irritation to your soft tissues, in comparison to traditional brace wires and brackets.

The forces the aligners use to move your teeth are gentle, meaning the anticipated aches and pains of ‘brace tightening’ that you’re likely imagining are minimal.  Some patients find that the first aligner that causes the initial movement can cause their teeth to feel slightly achy, but it’s easily remedied with anything they would usually take for a mild headache, if at all.

How long do I wear the Aligners?

You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by our orthodontic team. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Invisalign aligners may initially cause a slight change in speech, but most patients adjust within a few days. Practising speaking while wearing the aligners can help speed up the adjustment process.

Can I eat and drink while wearing Invisalign aligners?

It is not recommended to eat or drink anything other than water while wearing Invisalign aligners. Hot liquids can warp the aligners, and sugary or acidic foods and drinks can get trapped in the aligners and promote tooth decay.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign aligners can be cleaned by gently brushing them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and lukewarm water. They should be rinsed thoroughly before being put back in the mouth.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Yes, Invisalign can be used to treat even complex cases in both teenagers and adults! After over 12 million cases, Invisalign have worked hard to develop a treatment system that has very few case exceptions.

If you are conscientious enough to wear the aligners for the sufficient time needed per day, then it’s the right teeth straightening system for you. We can even add little wear indicators to offer some accountability -these are extremely helpful in some teen cases.

Do I need to wear retainers?

Yes! After you transformed your smile with the world’s most advanced clear aligners, it’s easy to keep it looking good by wearing retainers. Our treatment fee included both fixed and removable Essix retainers, but you can of course choose to upgrade your removable plastic retainers to Invisalign’s clear and discreet Vivera retainer that’s custom-made to go with our aligners.

The party line at The Dental Box is, “you need to wear retainers for as long as you’d like straight teeth” – we may tell you that you can reduce your retainer wear after a few years. But, we will never tell you to stop wearing them altogether.

At The Dental Box we believe finance shouldn’t stand in the way of a standout smile! We provide various payment options meaning you can spread the cost and enjoy a confident smile at a price you can afford.

YOUR SIMPLE 5 STEP JOURNEY

STEP 1. FREE, NO OBLIGATION ITERO SCAN & RESULT SIMULATION

An Invisalign trained member of our team will take a fast and precise 3D digital scan of your teeth using the very latest iTero element scanner and show you an instant simulation of your predicted results.

We will also take the time to sit with you with our Invisalign Consultation App, to show you similar cases, to discuss your treatment expectations, your motivation and any other questions you may have.

We can talk fees and finance and then let you know the way you can move forward, should you so wish. This appointment is completely free of charge, no obligation and no catch. We can also send you the smile prediction for you to consider at home.

STEP 2. ORTHODONTIC ASSESSMENT & RECORDS

Once you know that you would like to go ahead with Invisalign treatment you will be required to have a comprehensive orthodontic assessment.

This appointment is lots of measuring and record taking.  To determine your eligibility for orthodontic treatment we will measure lots of elements of your teeth and jaws and will assess the health of your teeth, gums and surrounding jaw bone and take a panoramic x-ray and a series of clinical photos.

You will need to have had a general dental exam within the last 12 months and have a good level of oral health and hygiene in order to begin any orthodontic treatment.

STEP 3. CLINCHECK

Your iTero scan, records, photos, x-ray and tailored orthodontic treatment plan is uploaded to AlignTech who craft a 3D treatment plan of your tooth movement, called a ClinCheck. You will be invited back in to discuss your ClinCheck with your orthodontist. This is an opportunity to collaborate and create a treatment outcome that you are delighted with. Once you are happy with what has been proposed, we ‘Approve’ the ClinCheck and the aligners are manufactured and shipped.

STEP 4. ALIGNERFIT

Usually aligners are shipped over to us within 4 weeks. The AlignerFit appointment is 1 hour and we will carry out any treatment prescriptions and ensure your aligners fit as they should. You will also be given an in-depth demonstration and instructions and have an opportunity practicing taking the aligners in and out and have the time to ask any questions you may have.

We will give you 2 or 3 sets of aligners to take home, instructions on when to change them and an appointment time to come back in to monitor your tooth movement and to give you more aligners to progress through.

Your treatment continues like this until you have transformed your smile and we will give you as many or as little appointments to review your progress as you’d like.

STEP 5. DEBOND AND RETAINERS

When you’ve reached the end of your series of Aligners and you are delighted with the results, we will remove any SmartForce Attachments that have been fitted throughout your Invisalign journey and take a final debond scan to record the finished results.

We fit a fixed bonded retainer on the back of your front 4 or 6 teeth and take some impressions to make your customised removable Essix retainers. That is unless you upgrade to Vivera retainers, they’re manufactured by Invisalign using the debond scan.

You will be given Retainer Review appointments 3, 9 and 12 months later and after these, discharged from our orthodontic care.
